Meanish reef – a very versatile divesite

STAR RATING : Scenic 3 star, shore 3 star, night 5 star
POSITION : Meanish, Glendale
EXPERIENCE: Competent, site has no difficulties
DIVE DEPTH : 4-22m
CONDITIONS : If done as a shore dive, ensure that you do not do this dive in a strong off-shore wind and ensure you leave enough air to return to shore underwater
SEA BED : Cliff down to boulder slope and coarse silty seabed
TIDES : Negligible
TAKE CARE : Offshore SW wind is hazardous if you need to surface swim for any reason
COMMENTS : This submerged reef is covered on top by a huge kelp forest, which stops at the edge of the boulder slope and cliff where the dive site is entered. It offers safe breeding and shelter to the many species that this huge site is inhabited by. Opening into a series of upward running gulleys, wee caves and a chimneys there is so much to explore, that you'll never see all the colour and life on one dive. This divesite can be enjoyed in almost any weather conditions and from the shore.
